Connect UW launches reinsurance MGA Brics to provide emerging markets capacity
Connect Underwriting has launched reinsurance MGA Brics UW to provide capacity to emerging markets.
Ahsan Abdul Majid, chief commercial officer for ConnectUW Holdings, has been appointed head of the new MGA.
Connect Underwriting said the new MGA will allow emerging market reinsurers without a London presence the opportunity to access London distribution and business.
Jamil Elbahou, CEO and CUO of Connect Underwriting, said: “As the world’s geopolitical focus shifts dramatically to the east, now is the opportune time to bridge the gap between east and west.
“Brics is a diverse and versatile underwriting business that will give quality emerging reinsurance markets the ability to grow on the international stage and act as a much-needed interface between London and international brokers and markets.”
Previous Connect Underwriting launches include Stability Risk, a London-based MGA unveiled at last year’s Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous to underwrite contingency, casualty, cyber and financial lines on a global basis.
And in December 2022, Connect Underwriting launched Pixel Re, a dedicated monoline reinsurance vehicle for global property and downstream energy risks with attachments of $500mn and above.
