In his new role, Lamitola will provide strategic sales and marketing support to acquired business partners, SPG explained.

He joins the company from Allstate where he spent less than a year as territory sales leader, based in New York, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to his short stint with the US auto insurance giant, Lamitola spent close-to 13 years with Liberty Mutual, latterly as senior territory manager.

In joining SPG, Lamitola fills the role vacated by Stavrakis who has taken on another role within the broader SPG business.

Stavrakis has been appointed president of Monarch, an MGA and wholesale brokerage that offers commercial insurance, professional insurance, personal insurance, special risk and brokerage solutions. The company was first formed in 1986 and then acquired by SPG in 2017.

“Having both Chris and Yiana in leadership roles at SPG is a winning combination,” said Chris Treanor, president and CEO of SPG.

“They both have the expertise and track records to take our company to the next level as we continue to grow and lead the market in innovative program and specialty businesses,” Treanor added.

SPG is a subsidiary of Hub International, and was first formed in 2015. As Martin Hughes, the then chairman and CEO of Hub, said at the time, SPG was created to develop and execute strategies to acquire and develop best-in-class MGAs and programs that benefit clients with specialised products.

Since its launch, SPG has grown to generate more than $1bn in premium, and now has 12 specialty insurance businesses on its books.
